The image coming out of the TV scatters in all direction, so it cannot be directed to that little mirror/lens of the overhead projector. Maybe if you put a fresnel lens right on the surface of the projector, it might be able to focus all its light in one direction. But it would probably be so dim and fuzzy as to be unwatchable.
