<All the ones I've seen do, but I don't know if they _all_ do for sure, but I think the answer is yes. Sony makes a 36" widescreen? I thought I had their smallest one... It's called 51". I wish I had heard of the 36" one (at least on this side of the pond), or maybe I did and forget, but I sure never saw it. Anyway, I'm not the best one to ask about this, because I specifically went looking for good DVD performance with WS movies, and didn't pay a huge attention to other stuff once I got my own priorities straightened out.

Umm, I don't know. Since it's the vertical height of your TV picture that is the limiting issue, and assuming things are perfect and aspect ratio is maintained, you could try calculating it for a rough idea. I did and it comes out to a ~30" 4:3 screen, about the same as the Proton. Yeah, I don't mind the horizontal black bars so much on my smaller screen TV, but for some reason the vertical ones get to me. I do know certain video artifacts bother me, ones that others hardly even notice.

Besides not recognizing my moniker, I see my quotes of your stuff were blown away. Doesn't happen in the other forums...
