You also need to consider the voltage requirements. Mine says 100-240V, 50-60 Hz on the back but is apparently set internally for the 117V, 60 Hz US standard. This unit can convert PAL to NTSC also, which is why I bought it.Todd
Follow Ups:
On NTSC? On PAL converted to NTSC? Thanks.
On NTSC, the Sampo player is okay but not as good as my older Pioneer DV-414 DVD player. On PAL to NTSC, it is watchable but quite underwhelming compared to a regular NTSC DVD or laserdisc, at least on the Columbo and Six Million Dollar episodes I've watched so far. Perhaps there are inherent quality compromises in this conversion, or maybe a more expensive conversion process would do a better job--I am not sure.Todd
