Depends on your focus

Several good Civil War-era dramas besiders "Glory"; Wyler's "Friendly Persuasion" (my fav), "Raintree County" (semi-potboiler), "Shenendoah", "Dark Command" (more of a cowboy movie). That "Gettyburg" is best produced and historically (though plodding as a story) CW movie says a lot about American perceptions. Perhaps, like WWII, the subject is just too broad and complex for Hollywood to translate well except in snippets.

There are lots of good documentaries available, with Burns' PBS series easily at the top.
