...Das Boot - one of the best action / drama oriented war movies of all time IMO. Its more a throw back to the sub movies of the '40s and 50's with some over the top special effects thrown in for good (?) measure. It works at that level but dont go expecting to see the gritty reality of DB or a whole lot of logical consistency. Its got a superficial sense of historical acuracy, but it blows that department in fundamental ways (machine gun depth charge attacks, German destroyer in the open seas where it could have never survived, and a few others I wont mention). So if your a stickler for accuracy stay away...joe
