Home Films/DVD Asylum

Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

Yeah- and Citizen Kane should have been in color.

"The problem I have viewing it now stems from "Space Odyssey" being trimmed down for widescreen or further compromised for DVD/TV viewing."

That's a fair criticism- Kubrick should have foreseen the advent of DVD's and shot it in 16:9.

"2001's biggest flaw was that Kubrick filmed a bigger than life epic even though he didn't have an epic story to work with"

So, the history of mankind not grandiose enough for you ? LOL!

"However, in retrospect, considering the more sophisticated effects available to today's film-makers and the ambitious plots which occasionally make their way to the screen, 2001 seems painfully pedestrian"

Another fair criticism- Kubrick should have used technology from 30 years in the future to make his film.

And he should have included explosions, perhaps a giant asteroid heading for earth and some aliens- I mean that's "amitious", isn't it ? Or perhaps something as ambitious as artificial intelligence ?

"Alas, Space Odyssey, even with all it's grandeur, seemed somehow unresolved; more experience than story."

More experience than story ?

Welcome to cinema.
