I was a fan of Ed Norton(awesome job in Primal Fear) until he displayed himself as a flaming lib, I had to throw him on the scrap heap. I think some actors/actresses are finally starting to figure this out. Not just if they lean left or right, but other aspects of their lives that we are supposed to overlook and just enjoy them in their roles, it's tough to do. Cruise/MI3 took a big hit and some of the blame has to go to his recent quirkiness. Kevin Spacey knew this and was pretty good about keeping his personal life and views to himself so he'd be more believable in his roles, but even he fell off the wagon.
