I didn't feel like fighting a crowd to see "the rat" so I picked Chrome Dome and his latest adventure.
Disappointment didn't have time to set in--this film is rife with action sequences that absolutely fly in the face of survivability. But, hey, it's a film, right?
The aging McLain (skinheaded, of course) man-ed his way through chills, spills, and gun shot wounds like there was no tomorrow.
The plot revolved around a major cyber attack known as a "firesale". A former federal employee, played by Timothy Olyphant, seeks revenge for his dismissal by shutting down the USA. He does a damn good job of it on the east coast but don"t all "computer movies" make it look easy? I first saw Olyphant in "The Girl Next Door" where he played a psycho porn director. Olyphant has a lot of crazy charisma and was an excellent villain in this McLain epic. Joining Olyphant was Cyril Raffaelli as one of the maniacal members of the international crew set on bringing down USA and McClain. Raffaelli will be remembered from "B-13", a French film, where he jumped buildings and ran up walls--he does the same here.
Willis did his yeoman stuff and proved as indestructible as an enraged rhino hell-bent on saving his young. The guy has 18 lives and uses up 15 this film.
I was totally satisfied with the mega-popcorn muncher. Charmed by the plot, the villian, the stunts, the women, and least of all: Willis.
Recommended for the holiday week.
