Apocalypse Now is also a great example of how a terrific actor absolutely dominates the frames he's in.
Sure he was "spoiled" and took wild chances later, but that's JAZZ in celluloid as far as I'm concerned - though I'm glad I didn't have to pay for overages that open ended character creation must cost.
Brando never lost it, he just became disenfranchised -imo.
