My high points:
The 3 women comedians at the start did a smart funny pitch perfect routine.
Free Solo winning best doc and Alex up on stage. I doubt anyone can watch his superhuman, borderline insane, effort in that movie and not be impressed and interested.
Spiderverse winning best animated. I resisted, I'm not into superheroes, but wow, this was some great animation. I will watch it again.
Olivia Colman best actress for the Favourite. I've seen her in UK dramas, don't exactly remember which ones. Loved every part of this audacious movie and it was great to see just a normal working actress surprised by an award she obviously thought was going to Glenn Close. A very human moment.
Gillian Welch- been a favorite of mine since Time the Revelator.
