Does it still shut down, on the bench, with the cover on i.e. when it has very clear ventilation? Many DVDP's put out a LOT of heat, and some almost none at all...Can you use a hairdryer aimed at a board area to try to force the DVDP to shut down? Might narrow down the search if it's a heat thing. If you can do that, then cold spray on small parts of the problem area to find what part(s)/area is the problem i.e. when the hot part is made cold, the unit should run OK. RS has cold spray, it works well for thermal problems, when used properly. I use tons of it (another brand), lots of marginal things fail when they get a bit hot. I use a hot air device, not a hairdryer, same idea but with pinpointing.
Try reseating all connectors. Something may be expanding when it gets warm and connection becomes poor.
