Re: Subwoofers don't dance?

That's correct. Neither sub generates any funny noises. The workmanship of the subs are impeccible...it should be for what they were going for new. Fortunately, I've been the beneficiary of the drastic price reductions from the new Velodyne DD series coming out. It's too bad the piano black finish isn't being carried over to the new HGS-X series. They are exactly the same subs as the HGS II subs I have now...except no piano black finish. Velo said they eliminated the piano black finish because of cost considerations. The only gripe I have about the HGS series is that I had an issue with reliability. My HGS12 had problems after about a couple of months. The sub would for no apparent reason go into oscillation while at idle for a couple of seconds and then stop. It did this at idle with no input signal. After a while the oscillation turned into spurious noises that came from the sub and trickled down into the mains I hooked up to at via the high pass filter outputs. My dealer was able to replace the sub with another one and I've had no problems since. The 15 I have hasn't given me any problems at all. A friend of mine also had problems with his HGS12 which was sorted out when he got a replacement. He eventually traded up to a DD12 and a DD15 which he's extremely happy with.
