Unless you have an older Sony TV, the TV's audio output should be set to "fixed" and fed to your premamp when playing through your stereo. If you have an older Sony, first turn the TV's internal speakers to "off", then set the volume control to maximum and then connect it to your preamp. You can run the TV output directly to your amp if you don't mind disconnecting and connecting interconnects or if you have an amp with multiple amp inputs jacks, which is quite unusual for any amp I have seen.
