The point I was trying to make is that, the switching power supply, oscillating clocks that set the timing, and Dac's in your receiver can give off noise which is picked up in the ground planes of your receiver.Seeing as the shield in your digital IC is also tied to the chassis ground via the chassis RCA, it will pick up this noise from the receiver, and transmit it back to the DVD player, via the digital IC's shield, where it will be reintroduced back into the DVD's ground, and eventually into the power supply.
When power is pulled for the video circuits, it is now pulling power along with the noise that has been reintroduced into the DVD power supply from your receiver, and hence degrades the video picture.
By installing your Audit and Tactic, you break this noise chain, and your DVD never sees the grunge that your receiver is producing, thus feeding cleaner power to the video circuits = an improved picture.
No doubt that the ERS paper is doing it's work, but the ERS is defending against AIR BORN EMI/RFI. The effects seem to be complimentary, and accumlative.
You have one of the older non powered Audits, they also come in a powered version, I have one of each.
Enjoy your new found enhancement. I wouldn't be with out mine
Dave
