Nonsense...You invest in media that will be supported

Formats come and go, but when a clearly superior format with better sales and better support, kills a clearly inferior format and even the sole manufacturer of the format's hardware throws up its hands, it's time to move on. HD DVD wasn't battling BD for years and years, with a significant library. This was a brief offering that lasted a year and took a drubbing in the market.

I'd say this "right now" mentality you advocate is what has led downloadable media to do significant harm to the quality of music (both technically and artistically), journalism and other important elements of society. Like it or not, consumers have responsibliity, and collectively our decisions have an enormous impact. It's nice to be entertained, but if you really have to rely on a few HD DVDs to feel entertained and can't recognized that it's a waste of money to spend even 1 cent on the format...if you can't get enough entertainment elsewhere, that's pretty pathetic.
