RE: Use component video or convert to HDMI to hook old processor/DVD player to new TV ???

I have a similar setup to yours but opted for a long HDMI cable to the projector, despite it only carrying video. But from what I read PQ is as good from component although the single HDMI cable is neater.

There could be an added advantage to using HDMI in that it would give audio to your TV so it offers the option to listen to its crummy little speakers. This could be useful if someone wants to listen to something late at night without disturbing others with sound from the audio system. I set up a friend's systen this way and it works well for him.
