yea, a bad storm will render you tv-less for a few minutes. I live in Dallas where thunderstorms and winter storms are not uncommon and it really hasn't come close to being a deal breaker. The HD picture is MUCH better than my new U-Verse service (Dropped DISH when we moved to new casa for bundled U-Verse service to save some material coin).

Great DVR on DISH as well and a very intuitive remote with simple to use DVR functions. Expensive but great. One last thng, customer service is first rate and you're talking to a human within a minute or so.
