Problem 1. LD players generally (never) ship an RF demodulator. That's a feature that's either included in your amp, or you buy an outboard demodulator. I think Yamaha offers a separate demodulator that you could use.Problem 2. Sounds like you've eliminated the amp as the source of the problem by connecting the settop box directly to the tv's s-video in with no luck. I'd look at the box as being the problem.
