Aliasing phenomenon?

Does anybody hear about aliasing phenomenon? When you watch to a DVD movie (TV or projector) the lines are not smooth, i.e. they are like stairs.
Are there any additional devices to be attached to DVD player and/ or TV-projector?
If yes, do they worth the money?
