Well, lesse... your initial attack on Patrick today was most likely the result of your inability to understand what he said. It wasn't all that complicated, really,
........ Victor, actually I think I understand what Patrick said perfectly. He said that I had the wrong reasons for disliking 21 Grams. This in itself is a bit strange because in my original post from a few days ago, about 21 Grams and Sean Penn, I stated that I enjoyed the movie, but I did not particularly think Penn's performance was that strong. I voiced questions about Penn, but I did not say anything about disliking the film. Anyway, thinking that maybe I was misinterpreting what Patrick was suggesting about my wrong reasons for disliking the film, I responded to Patrick's post & asked him if I was getting wrong idea or if I was missing something about what he was saying. There was no "attack" on Patrick by me. Patrick's reply was (I am paraphrasing here) "yes you are definatly missing something." End of his post - no attempt to address any of my questions. Victor, what do you make of that response? To me it is smug and pretentious. And not unlike many of his other posts that you can easily locate via the archive. You don't think those comments were aimed directly at me? Seeing as how Patrick did not bother to explain himself, what am I to think?
but listen, it was not aimed any anyone in particular, so your reaciton was obviously based in something, not his post. Your reaction was completely off the wall and uncalled for... and then you escalated it... looks like you came here to pick up a fight...... Victor, are we reading the same posts? What are you talking about? Why would I be reacting to something besides what Patrick posted? I read it and I asked him to explain himself and he insulted me. Its pretty simple. Also I didn't escalate anything. If you look at the posts I only made 2 or 3 right directly to Patrick. Then a bunch of other people jumped in (you included.) I had already split by then. It wasn't until a while later when I returned to my computer to find 10 or so posts in the thread.
As far as the completely idiotic and frankly scummy sttacks on his language skills, well, you didn't see it fit to interrupt and challenge them today, so I suggest you too have not shown yourself in the best possible light......... Are you kidding me? Victor, you are suggesting that I am somehow accountable because other people attack Patrick's english? Victor, this is pathetic. I simply am not able to sit at my computer all day and monitor this forum. This is absurd.
surely it wasn't you who launched it, but you were present, obviously. In every country there will be cretins who cringe at accents of others and laugh at their mistakes, but fortunately those cretins are not the norm. Has you challenged that cretin you would have more moral currency now........Again Victor, this is really quite a feeble argument. I only wish everybody had such a black and white view of things as life would be a lot simpler........So, now I have low morals because I was away from my PC and could not come to Patrick's rescue when a 3rd party was making fun of his languge? Somehow I am condoning the persection of Patrick in my failure to defend him from other people's comments? Does that also hold true for everyone else who might have been on line at the time and failed to step forward and fight the good fight?
Victor, maybe you would like me to be on call & you can page me from now on when you think there is injustice taking place here on the forum? Or should we just assume that you already recognize yourself in that role?
