Sorry... I have to agree with everything Analog Scott said in his reply to this post. Methinks you are over-reaching here. Or, perhaps, just trying to incite ;-)I would love to hike/trek in/visit Bolivia and Peru and the high desert in Chile and Patagonia. I've never been to South America and it may have to be next when I travel outside of the US again.
I'd been up over 18,000 feet in the past with no problems but, like you that was late 20's early 30's.
