Hey Scott,
I'll have to reserve judgement on "The Angry Red Planet" until I
see it. I did see it as a child, but memories are too vague (as with
certain others as "4-D Man"). I will probably buy the tape for my
collection.
"The Angry Red Planet" has a 4.8 rating on the internet movie
database site, not too bad. I recommend you go to that site:
www.imdb.com and read some of the reviews; in particular, Jeffery
Talbot's lengthy favorable (with qualifications)review. Here is an
excerpt about the creatures: "The different life forms which make
an appearance (the carnivorous plant, the bat-rat-spider-crab, and
the giant ameoba), while not the most convincing incarnations crafted,
are still inspiringly creative and original manifestations and help
impart to the cinematic recreation of the red planet an appropriately
nightmarish quality and the unearthliness of a frontier totally beyond
human ken."
FWIW, in the cast overview, Naura Hayden is listed as "Dr. Iris
'Irish' Ryan". - AH
