Audiohead, Jeff Morrow got off easy -- Phil Tucker, who directed the unbelievably inept "Robot Monster" was so depressed by his reviews that he attempted suicide after the movie's premiere! (He tried to shoot himself while drunk but was so wasted he missed... his gain was mankind's loss).In case you missed Robot Monster, this gem features some dude dressed in a gorilla suit and bubble helmet who plays a "Ro-Man"... part robot, part man... who is sent to earth to conquer the "Hu-mans"... who are half human and, uh, the other half human. Ed Wood may hold the reputation of "Worlds Worst Director" but watching this makes you believe that Phil Tucker subscribed to the Avis motto: "We try harder".
Sicko that I am, I'm making plans for a bad movie night featuring Angry Red Planet, Flying Claw, Robot Monster and Mars Needs Women (and any other el-crap sci-fi movies that you can suggest) for this coming weekend... proof that bad taste never goes out of style, and that I need to get a life. Crush! Kill! Destroy!!!
