The Rotel is inded more powerful. Rotel rates their equipment at .1 thd 20hz-20khz and all channels driven. The Yamaha rating system is most likely only 1 channel driven at an unknown cycle range, wich would equate to about 40 watts per channel using Rotels more truthful system. Listen to them side by side and you will be a believer. I did.
