This should be an easy choice, with only one question to answer. Will you be using your receiver mostly for movies, or do you want good 2 channel stereo for your cd's? If you will be listening to music, Rotel is the winner by a landslide. If this is for Home Theater mostly, they are a toss up in sound quality, but the Rotel has superior construction and components. The Yamaha is a fine unit, you should be happy with either one. Good luck and happy listening.
