Re: dvd sound.

Thanks for all the info. Just for jollies, I decided to review some of the titles in my small collection of DVD's to see if they actually had stereo or 2 channel steeings. The results are interesting:

Blade Runner.........................no
Buckaroo Banzai......................no
Casablanca...........................no
Harry Potter & the Socerer's Stone...no
Hedwig & the Angry Inch..............YES
Lawrence of Arabia...................YES
Mulan................................no
Spirit...............................YES
Wizard of OZ.........................no

H'mmm. Only one third of the titles have this option. My DVD player has the following settings:

Digital Output - PCM or Bitstream (set to PCM)
DTS - on or off (off)
Dynamic Compression - on or off (doesn't seem to make any difference)
2x Audio Scan - on or off (doesn't seem to make any difference)

Is this a conspiracy to get us to buy new receivers and lots more speakers. I would appreciate any more info. I'm confused. And I am turning those DVD's way up. The B&O puts out about 35 watts per channel, but I really would not think that it would matter that much.
