Aliasing is due to the MPEG2 compression...... like lots of JPEGS put together... the progressive scan will minimize the problem, but the Sony 9000ES does some serious processing to eliminate it even in the smooth gradations of evening sky! this is a noticeable feature at even the composite level.-Sam
