>>>256,000 Toshiba players matter little.<<<
You forgot the Xbox add on, which brings the numbers to about 500,000.
>>>The HD DVD is a failure in Japan, and most of the world. <<<
Japan is BD because the recorders are real big there. That is a given.
As a point of interest:
Globally, the US has 60% of the HDTV market, Japan has 20%, Europe has 10% the rest have 10%.
>>>In USA HD DVD have about 1/3 of the market for movies.<<<
Not true. You're going to have to let go of that 2:1 security blanket you are clinging to. Since inception to the end of Q3, the numbers are approx. 3M:2M discs sold. You can see how well of those PS3s have been at selling movies.
>>>So if a miracle happened, and HD DVD movies began selling better in USA, remember USA is only about 25% of the world market for Japans electronics.
So HD DVD movies have a very small share of the world market, and you cannot change that. <<<
Again, we aren't interested in all of Japan's electronics. Just HDTVs, and HD players. There's a reason why all of these companies have targeted the US market. Can you guess what it is?
