Neither does Texas. So on that account they're even up.
8.25% sales tax most places in Texas. Food and some services anre excluded from taxation.
No idea what sales tax is in Nashville. Hard to say about property taxes because we just went through a big dust up in the Texas legislature last fall and generally got property tax reductions. The matter of property taxes in Texas is in flux. The Lt. Gubner just told the State Senate last week he wanted them to come up with a way for Texas to do away with property taxes. Stay tuned. I may live to see flying cars before that happens.
