The Critrion laserdisc is bested by a later LD released by Image, which transferred a pristine 35 mm print found in 1988 in Switzerland. This print has the excised portions intact in 35 mm.Warner Brothers is at work on a complete restoration of KK, to be released on DVD when completed.
While I agree with your sentiments I think Jackson will do a good job. He is maintaining the 1933 time frame and even having the actors speak in dialog typical of that era in movies.
