Help, what a mess!

After 20 years or so of ripping CDs and downloading music files, I have maybe 10 or so drives of various sizes filled to the brim with music files. Many duplicates and even triplicates over the years as I made backups or copied files around for various reasons.

One of the drives is an 8TB, most are 2 and 4 tb drives, and then some USB stick drives.

So it is quite a horrow show of duplication and no way to easily search or find the music.

There must be a lot of us that have this problem?

It is my understanding that each physcial drive unit has a unique hardware ID, similiar to MAC addresses for network cards.

If that is the case, is there some program that would allow me to build an inventory of the files based on the drive ID so that I eventually could have a way to know what is on each drive?

If not, maybe it is time for me to write one in powershell and sql server..
