Home Computer Audio Asylum

Music servers and other computer based digital audio technologies.

Not trying to beat up on you

just trying to understand the challenge. :)

It really wasn't that difficult for me once I made the decision to start keeping the files. I began perhaps fifteens years ago ripping CDs in order to make CD-Rs for cars and secondary systems. Once I migrated to a computer with 120 GB of space, I decided to simply hang on to the files even though I could only use the computer for playback at the time. And eventually ripped everything. With each of several computer and/or drive upgrades, I've simply restored backups and continued rolling along...

As an IT guy, I always seek structure and found a simple method that has served me well. The NAS layout is likewise simple and easy to navigate. It's a beautiful thing having all your stuff in one place.
